Opening

We're open year-round and can be reached on foot, by off-road vehicle, by motorbike, or by mountain bike. We've set up dedicated facilities outside where you can leave your mountain bike.

Excursions

During the winter, the road will be groomed by our snowcat, making it easier for you to ascend with snowshoes. It's an excellent starting point for hikes and treks, or a place to stop before continuing on to your desired destination.

Peronactment

The refuge has 44 beds distributed in rooms for 4, 6, 12 people with the possibility of booking the entire dormitory, and we offer bar and restaurant services.

The welcome
that makes the difference

The San Lucio refuge is located at 1554 m near the pass of the same name, which provides a connection between the Val Cavargna and the Ticino Val Colla, located between Lake Lugano and the Lugano Prealps mountain range.
Our beloved refuge is a recent construction, built in 2000 following the renovation of a former Guardia di Finanza barracks , as the plaque still on our facade commemorates. Over the years, various managers have made many improvements , which we can now benefit from and which have inspired us to add something new, such as the large wooden table outside, made by Vittorio and Giuseppe. We hope, over the years, to be able to fix many things to make the environment more welcoming. From our refuge the view is 360°: to the east you can admire the Grigne , the Grona and the ridge from Bregagno to Pizzo di Gino , behind which the peak of Legnone looms; while to the west are the countless and spectacular Swiss Alps . Opposite you can admire the magnificent church of San Lucio , an ancient Romanesque oratory from the 15th century , which you can visit by asking for the keys at the refuge.
